Persons applying for Moldovan nationality will be tested on Constitution and official language

The knowledge of the Constitution and the official language of the persons that will apply for Moldovan nationality will be examined by a test formulated and approved by the Ministry of Education and Youth, not by examination cards. The Government approved relevant amendments to its decision of November 19, 2001, Info-Prim Neo reports. The test on the official language will contain three subtests: reading (reading and understanding of a text), discussion (on a daily topic), written examination (editing of a text on a daily topic). An applicant will be examined for 20 minutes. The Government also approved the nominal composition of the Examination Committee for the examination of knowledge of the Constitution of Moldova and of the official language. Deputy Minister of Education and Youth Galina Bulat will head the Commission, the head of the Ministry’s policy analysis, monitoring and assessment division Tudor Cojocaru will act as the Commission’s secretary. The members of the Commission include Vera Petuhov, deputy director of the Interethnic Relations Bureau, Sergiu Cobaneanu, Doctor of Law, the State University of Moldova (USM), assistant-judge at the Constitutional Court, Irina Condrea, Doctor Habilitate in Philology, the USM, and Ala Zavatchi, Doctor in Philology, the USM.
