Permits of five councilors withdrawn before term
The bone of contention at the last meetings of the Chisinau Municipal Council (CMC) was solved on July 7 in less than five minutes. After all the items from the agenda set on June 11 were considered, the Council took cognizance of the withdrawal, before term, of the permits of five municipal councilors, who became Members of Parliament after the April 5 elections, Info-Prim Neo reports.
The given councilors include Mihai Ghimpu, Gheorghe Brega, Corina Fusu and Vadim Cojocaru of the PL, and Alexandru Tanase of the PLDM.
The councilors of the factions of the PPCD and UCM were against placing this issue at the top of the agenda of June 11. The factions of the PLDM, PL and AMN considered that the right of the councilors that will replace the departing ones was thus being violated and left the meeting hall in protest. Several subsequent meetings of the Council failed as the quorum was not present.
Today, the councilors considered the withdrawal of the permits practically without argument
At its next meeting, the CMC will vote on the tendering of permits to the persons fielded by these parties for councilors, according to the electoral lists.
