The period during which motor vehicle owners from the Transnistrian region can obtain neutral-design license plates will be extend for two more years, until September 1, 2022. A bill to this effect was given a first reading by Parliament on September 10, IPN reports.
Deputy Prime Minister for Reintegration Cristina Lesnic said in Parliament that slightly over 4,000 neutral-design license plates have been issued so far. During two years, about 1,500 vehicles with neutral-design license plates left and entered Moldova, making approximately 47,000 crossings through the border with Romania and with Ukraine.
As of September 1, 2018, motor vehicle owners living in the Transnistrian region can apply for neutral-design license plates issued by the Moldovan authorities to enter international traffic at two registration points, in Tiraspol and Rybnitsa.
The registration certificate costs 400 lei, while the identification of the vehicles imported after April 24, 2018 - 400 lei. The applicants must also pay the tax for technical overhaul. This service is provided by an economic entity based on the left side of the Nistru River.
