A People’s Anti-Crisis Cell was created in ATU Gagauzia following the declaring of a state of emergency in Moldova. This is a civic initiative aimed at helping the vulnerable people and state and nongovernmental bodies in the period of crisis, IPN reports.

According to a press release of the initiative group, the necessity of constituting such a body derived from the exceptional situation generated by the COVD-19 infection and from the difficulties faced by people who form part of socially deprived groups. The People’s Anti-Crisis Cell consists of public figures, local deputies, entrepreneurs and civic activists.

Victor Petrov, who heads the People’s Anti-Crisis Cell in ATU Gagauzia, said the body will become involved to help the people who need, primarily elderly people, families with many children and persons with disabilities. They will be supplied with food products, medicines and hygiene products.

The cell is collecting applications for evacuating Moldovans living in Gagauzia who are now in Russia and Turkey. The Istanbul-Chisinau and Moscow-Chisinau charter flights were scheduled for March 26. These will transport mainly women, children and students.

The staff of the People’s Anti-Crisis Cell will explain the quarantine conditions and the measures imposed during a state of emergency to the citizens.

The state of emergency declared in Moldova will last until May 15.
