The Cabinet on September 28 approved a series of changes to its decision concerning the method of compensating drugs within the mandatory health insurance system, which are designed to increase the population’s access to compensated medicines and to improve health indicators, IPN reports.
The pediatrician is authorized to prescribe compensated drugs so as to facilitate initiation of treatment and to exclude the necessity of going again to the family doctor for receiving the prescription for the given drugs. The fixed sums compensated by drugs are to be calculated based on the retail prices of drugs presented by the Agency for Medicines and Medical Devices.
The cap on the volume of prescribed compensated drugs indicated in the contracts signed with health facilities was annulled. The reference sums will be applied to each territorial administrative unit.
In the same meeting, the Cabinet approved a series of legislative changes aimed at optimizing management in health, especially as regards the simplification of the procedure for authorizing and placing drugs on the market and accountability of the relevant authorities.
