The Law on Dwellings will take effect soon. Under it, the people whose dwellings haven’t been privatized, but can be privatized have one year, until November 29, 2016, to become their owners, IPN reports.
The Chisinau City Hall said that when this period expires, the dwellings that will remain non-privatized will be transferred under the ownership of the local public administration, namely of the district head’s offices. The municipality will give these apartments and homes the status of social dwellings.
One year after the coming into force of the Law on Dwellings, the persons who live in apartments that will become the property of the local public administration will have to sign lease contracts for a five-year period, which could be extended, and will pay rent. The Chisinau Municipal Council will set the rent for social dwellings.
