After a four-day holiday on the occasion of the International Women’s Day, the Government offers another mini-vacation on the occasion of Labour Day. On April 25, the Government decided to declare April 30 and May 1 as days free from work. Instead, people will go to work on Saturday, April 28. According to the Cabinet, the respective decision was taken “with the aim to optimally spend the work and rest time in April”. At the same time, according to the same document, the ministries, central administrative authorities, leaders of enterprises, institutions and organisations will ensure on April 28 an efficient activity of the subordinated units. In 1889, the Congress of Socialist International decreed May 1 as World Labour Day, in memory of the victims of the general strike in Chicago. This day is commemorated by organising working manifestations. May 1 has become in time a labour holiday in most countries of the world.
