The relatives, friends and all those who want can say goodbye to Maria Biesu from Friday evening, starting at 17:00. The coffin of the Prima Donna will be laid at Saint Nicolae Church in Chisinau, the Government’s deputy secretary general Anatol Onceanu, who heads the governmental commission that prepares the funeral, has told Info-Prim Neo. According to him, the coffin will be brought to the National Opera House at 09:30 on May 19, and everyone will be able to bid farwell to the artist from 10:00 until 12:00. At 12:00, the coffin will be taken to the Central Cemetery situated on Armeneasca St. At the suggestion of Head of Parliament Marian Lupu, the National Opera House will bear the name of Maria Biesu. Maria Biesu died at the age of 76. She was declared the National Opera Prima Donna and was the People’s Artist, Laureate of State Awards, university professor and academician, Doctor Honoris-Causa, holder of the Order of the Republic and of the National Order “Romania’s Star”.
