The choice of a household appliance of a particular energy efficiency class can help the consumers save money. “An electrical appliance can help save up to 500 lei a year. If we buy a fridge of the A +++ energy class, we can save up to 60% of the consumed electric power,” said the director of the Energy Efficiency Agency Alexandru Ciudin. The same is true about washing machines and dishwashers, where up to 30% of the electricity can be saved, IPN reports.

The recommendation is to analyze the information on the energy label placed on home appliances. The Energy Efficiency Agency has launched an information camion entitled “Choose intelligently! Save energy and money!”. “We want to encourage the suppliers, importers and producers of household appliances to deliver the most energy-efficient products. The consumers will be informed about their rights in the purchase of products,” stated Alexandru Ciudin.

Nicolae Olărașu, inspector of the National Agency for Consumer Protection and Market Surveillance, said 85% of the consumers in Europe take into account the information about energy efficiency so as to ensure considerable savings in their budget. The business entities that do not place the energy label face fines of up to 15,000 lei. If a complaint is submitted, the case is usually solved by replacing the product with another one that is more energy-efficient.
