After going through the seven-week Lent, the people who fasted are urged by the doctors to refrain from eating high-calorie products during the Easter holidays, especially during the first days, so as to avoid eating disorders.
Contacted by IPN, the head of the Chisinau Health Division Luminita Suveica said it is very important for the persons who fasted to eat moderately, by a small amount at every meal, and not to forget that the body needs a period of adjustment. It is easier to begin fasting than to end it.
“On Easter, one should eat 4-5 times a day moderately. The holiday meal must include lamb, rabbit or poultry, which contain less fat. Pork is very fatty and should be avoided,” said the doctor.
Luminita Suveica also said the meat should be eaten with vegetables and greens, not with salads with mayonnaise. Even the pound cake can cause gastric disorders if it contains a lot of fats and eggs. The traditional boiled eggs are an indispensable element on Easter, but one should eat at most two eggs a day.
The doctor recommended drinking at least two liters of water a day and walking as much as possible.
