People urged to vote candidates who plead for keeping statehood

A number of civic activists call on the people in the parliamentary elections of February 24 to vote candidates who plead for developing the country and for keeping Moldova’s statehood.

In a news conference at IPN, the leader of the youth organization “Urmașii lui Ștefan” (“Stephan the Great’s Followers”) Dumitru Roibu said in the current election campaign there are many candidates who have nothing to do with the development and the future of the state and these plead for Moldova’s liquidation. Among these are Maia Sandu, Iurie Leancă, Pavel Filip, Monica Babuc, Andrei Năstase, Dorin Chirtoacă, Andrian Candu and other less important candidates.

Dumitru Roibu noted the candidates for MP who plead for the liquidation of the state should be morally condemned by society and should be ignored as these entered the electoral race only in order to enrich themselves. The unionist danger persists as nobody was penalized for promoting unionism even if the Moldovan legislation envisions penalties for those who promote the liquidation of the state.

Civic activist Octavian Rusu said the MPs should ensure the rule of law and should not allow the Constitution to be violated. The unionists break Article 1 of the Constitution, which provides that the Republic of Moldova is a sovereign and independent, unitary and indivisible state. It is dangerous to allow candidates who will promote the union with Romania to enter Parliament. The loss of independence will immediately lead to Gagauzia’s exist from Moldova.

Civic activist Cristian Erumurachi said the politicians, instead of working to develop the Moldovan statehood, promote different initiatives that endanger the existence of the state. That’s why most of the young people do not see prospects in the Republic of Moldova and choose to leave it. The political class divided society into a number of camps so as to be able to easier manipulate the people. The young man called on the voters, especially the young ones, to inform themselves before going to the polls and to elect uprights candidates.

Ion Jomir, of the Youth Government of the Republic of Moldova, said the state should be managed by patriots who believe in Moldova’s future as the country can be revived only this way, by defending the national interests.
