People urged to donate blood and plasma within national campaign

On the occasion of World Heart Day, the National Police kicked off a nationwide campaign entitled “Donate Blood, Support Life Rhyme on Earth” that will be conducted during September 29 – October 28. Also, the Government on Thursday decided that the food parcel for blood donors will be increased, IPN reports.

The blood donation campaign is carried out by the General Police Inspectorate together with the National Blood Transfusion Center. On the first day of the campaign alone, over 120 police officers donated blood and plasma. According to them, by a simple gesture a unique chance to life is offered to those for whom the availability of compatible blood makes the difference between life and death.

“Our daily mission is to help the people and I express my gratitude to my colleagues for the voluntary participation in the blood donation campaign. It is a humane and voluntary gesture, beyond the nature of our service through which we daily support the people. Blood donation already became a tradition for the National Police and for many of my colleagues it became part of their lifestyle,” said the head of the General Police Inspectorate Viorel Cernăuțeanu.

The Cabinet today approved the increase of the free food parcel offered by the National Blood Transfusion Center to blood donors by 25%. It also decided that the food norms for patients in a number of public pediatric institutions managed by the Ministry of Health will also be raised by 25%.
