Three creation union heads – the president of the Writers Union, academician Mihai Cimpoi, the president of the Union of Composers ad Musicologists Ghenadie Ciobanu and the president of the Journalists Union Valeriu Saharneanu – announced at “Vocea Basarabiei” radio station that they recently issued an appeal to found the National Association of Creation Unions, which will monitor how the state institutions manage the area of culture, Info-Prim Neo reports. According to the quoted sources, the Union will help the Alliance for European Integration achieve the objective of Europeanizing culture and will contribute to enriching the national and spiritual patrimony, to promoting Moldova's cultural image at the national and international levels, to implementing different projects. It will work to restore the area of culture that was devastated by the former communist government. The association, with the support of the Ministry of Culture, will submit proposals for making the culture promotion process more efficient to the legislature. The National Association of Creation Unions will hold a congress in December to discuss the legislation in the field and possibilities of joining the European cultural area. Debates involving people of culture and politicians will be held until then.
