Some of the persons call the emergency number 112 to ask for an ambulance and lie that they suspect of being infected with COVID-19 or have caught the infection so that the doctors come swifter to them. When on the spot, the doctors, outfitted with protective suits, ascertain that the caller has hypertension, for example, Minister of Health, Labor and Social Protection Viorica Dumbrăveanu stated after the March 19 meeting of the National Focal Point, IPN reports.

“Some of the persons show irresponsibility as the ambulance should be called only when pre-hospital medical assistance is indeed needed. Every doctor is now valuable as they should concentrate their efforts on the necessities of those who really need qualified medical assistance. That’s why I call on the citizens of the Republic of Moldova: Help us to save you! Help the doctors by showing responsibility and by following the recommendations,” stated Viorica Dumbrăveanu.

She noted that over 2,000 persons in self-isolation regime were supervised on March 18. In six of the cases, fines were imposed for violating the regime. It was ascertained that the people went out of the house not because they had vital necessities. For example, they chose to go to the dentist.

Those who cause the spread of an epidemic disease face a fine of up to 50,000 lei or at most three years in jail. If the measures to prevent and combat epidemic diseases are not respected and there is a danger to public health, the fine is of 22,000 to 25,000 lei for private individuals and of 50,000 to 75,000 lei for legal entities. Fines of at most 25,000 lei are imposed on those who intentionally present false or incomplete personal data in epidemiological forms or refuse to complete these.

A state of emergency for 60 days was declared in Moldova on March 17. As many as 36 cases of infection with the novel coronavirus have been confirmed so far. One infected person died, while another one was cured.
