The people who protest in the Great National Assembly Square of Chisinau are ready to stay in front of the Government Building as long as it is needed, until their demands are satisfied. After a night spent in tents, these said that the police maintained public order patrolling the area, while dozens of people came to bring them blankets and food products, expressing this way their support, IPN report.
“We came here to defend out rights and to make sure that the truth comes out, with God’s help. First of all, we want the stolen €1 billion to be returned. Secondly, all those to blame should be jailed. The night was cold and we thank the ordinary people who came and brought us blankets and tea,” said protester Oleg Lipcan.
Liviu Vovc, member of the Civic Platform “Dignity and Truth”, said that over 80 tents were pitched in the central square of Chisinau yesterday evening. In the morning, more people joined in. The night was quiet and there were no incidents. At a certain moment, they remained without electricity. It turned out that the disconnections in this area take place according to a plan and are aimed at saving power. Those from “Lumteh” later resumed the supply of electricity. Meanwhile, the area was patrolled by police teams.
“We will struggle against the ruling mafia until all the demands formulated by the people, by those over 100,000 protesters are fulfilled. It will be a continuous protest that will last until we see better living conditions in our country. We want our country back,” stated Daniel Ulinici.
Another protester Ion Drumea said he heard that those who are in power are preparing actions to take them away from the Great National Assembly Square by force, but he and other people who spent the night in the Square feel safe, being supported by the people, including war veterans. “We intend to stay here until the end, but do not want serious hostilities,” he stated.
The participants in the September 6 protest decided to protest on a permanent basis and put up a number of tents in the central square of Chisinau, creating the “Town of Dignity and Truth”. According to the organizers, last Sunday’s protest brought together about 100,000 people. There were about 2,000 people in the square today.
