The people today queued up at the Easter Fair set up in the square of the Metropolitan Cathedral near Pushkin St in central Chisinau. The visitors could buy Easter cakes and bread, candies, egg paint and decorations for the Easter holidays at reasonable prices, as they said, IPN reports.

“I saw the prices of all the products and they seem neither high nor small to me. They are ok. Today I bought chocolate for Easter, but I will come in the evening to buy Easter cakes as the lines are now too long. I usually buy Easter cake and bread and sweets. I think I will spend about 300 lei,” said the woman.

Other visitors said they prefer to make Easter bread at home as it is cheaper if they have home products. “I will make bread at home as I have home-produced ingredients and will spend less. I’m not tempted to purchase even if it’s Italian cake that is tastier than our cake as they say,” stated a young woman.

Another woman said she is a faithful visitor of Easter fairs and always buys Easter products here. The prices are slightly inflated, but in shops the products are not cheaper. “I spent 350 lei and I think I will yet buy something. We will not make cake at home as the assortment here is very wide,” she noted.

To buy Easter bread and cakes with walnut, raisin, chocolate or cherry filling, the people will pay 8 to 135 lei. The cakes cost 30 to 50 lei. The bread with cow’s cheese is sold for about 50 lei, depending on size. The five-color egg paint costs 10 lei, the decorative lights in the form of eggs15 lei, while a decorative Easter wreath over 200 lei.

Sellers said that more visitors came to the Easter Fair today than on the first day and most of these purchased bread with cow’s cheese and cakes with cherry filling.

The Chisinau City Hall said such fairs will be set up in all the districts of Chisinau. The place is chosen by the district head’s office.

The Easter Fair in central Chisinau will continue until April 7.
