The people can report violations of the anti-smoking law to the police on 902 starting with May 31, when the provisions of the new law take effect. Under these, the persons smoking in open and closed public places will be penalized, IPN reports.
According to the General Police Inspectorate, smoking is also banned in public and private transport where there are minors, under the roof of public transport stations, in recreational areas and playgrounds, at open stadiums and arenas during public events, in squares and other public places where there are many people.
The private individuals who will violate the provisions of the law will be fined 1,000 to 3,000 lei. The legal entities such as owners of restaurants will be fined up to 10,000 lei if smoking in their place is allowed.
Among the evidence that can be used to penalize the persons are statements of witnesses and photos and videos, including police observations. In this connection, the General Police Inspectorate calls on those who smoke to obey the new rules and to respect the persons around.
