People are urged to ask for and use public information

The people are encouraged to ask for public information, while the governmental institutions to assume responsibility and satisfy the people’s requests. This is one of the safe mechanisms for developing the practices of opening government data and was devised in the international conference “Opening Up Development” that was organized by the World Bank. The event within which there was presented Moldova’s experience in the field was attended by representatives of ten states, including Kenya, Albania, Honduras, Macedonia, Rwanda, and Ukraine, Info-Prim Neo reports, quoting a communiqué from the e-Government Center. The free access to government data of public character in Moldova is one of the authorities’ initiatives in the Governance E-Transformation process. The access to open data represents an innovatory initiative of governments, civil society and ICT communities all over the world. The event is aimed at bringing the governmental institutions closer to the people, ensuring thus transparency and efficiency in decision making. A one-stop office was created within the platform “Free access to government data of public character” in Moldova.
