The people are very interested to find out information about the voting procedure and their electoral rights. Two mobile teams of the Center for Continuous Electoral Training working under the Central Election Commission travelled today to Telenesti, Sangerei, Ungheni and Falesti to discuss with locals and provide them with information about the elections.
The trip forms part of a broader information tour that started on June 2 and will cover 25 settlements. Contacted by IPN, trainer of the Center Nicolae Chetrari, who is a member of a mobile team, said such an information campaign is more than welcome.
To make the communication interactive, there are staged contests with questions about the electoral process. The trainers help the contestants where these encounter difficulties. “We tell the people that until the day before the elections, they can go to the electoral office of the polling place to see if they are on the voter rolls. If they are not, they can write an application to be included. If the person comes to vote on the election day and is not found on the main list, he/she is included in the additional list if the data from the identity card show that they must vote at the given polling place,” stated Nicolae Chetrari.
The trainers inform the people what documents they should have to be able to vote. They are told that if they do not want the stamp ‘voted’ to be put on the loose leaf accompanying the identity card, they will be unable to vote. They can ask for another ballot only once, if they made a mistake in the first ballot.
Nicolae Chetrari also said that a large part of the people have knowledge about the electoral process, but should be informed more comprehensively so as to exclude interpretations.
The information tour will end on June 12.
