People affected by heavy rain in Ceadar-Lunga could get aid

The residents of Ceadar-Lunga town who were affected by the recent rainstorm could receive assistance from the Government. The issue was discussed in an emergency meeting called by Prime Minister Pavel Filip. The final decision will be taken in the June 15 meeting of the Cabinet, IPN reports.

According to the Government’s press service, the meeting centered on the situated created in Ceadar-Lunga following the rainstorm of last night and the measures taken to help those affected. The Premier asked for maximal mobilization for immediately dealing with the consequences of the rain and to assess the caused damage so as to provide assistance to the affected people.

The authorities said the volume of water that fell in Ceadar-Lunga during two hours in the evening of June 13 is equal to the usual amount of precipitation for three months. The situation there is monitored nonstop. Teams of rescuers pump water out of buildings.

The Civil Protection and Emergencies Service said the heavy shower of last night affected 58 private houses in Ceadar-Lunga town, including 16 houses, 41 basements, yards and orchards and the local market. The evacuated persons were lodged by relatives and at a local medical center.
