The Party “Pentru Neam si Tara” (PPNT – For Nation and Country – Rom.) backs Our Moldova Alliance (AMN) in the run-up for the snap elections set for July 29. “Standing for Moldova's European and democratic future, we call on our supporters and members to vote AMN,” PPNT president Nicolae Utica stated at a news conference hosted by Info-Prim Neo. Moldova must strictly observe the Constitution and law to ensure a free and fair electoral process, so that later there should be no reasons to question the electoral process, said Nicolae Utica. “We believe and hope that the democratic bloc will win the July 29 elections,” said the PPNT leader. Other party members attending the news conference have said their local branches are already cooperating with AMN members in their localities, electioneering in the AMN's favor. In the wake of the April 5 elections, the PPNT abandoned the race, also calling on its backers to cast their votes for Our Moldova Alliance. Nicolae Utica says he has conducted no talks with AMN and does not claim any advantages from the latter. If a party does not run in two consecutive races, the Justice Ministry may erase it from its registry. Nicolae Utica says he is not afraid of this perspective, since they will be able to immediately prepare the documents to register the party again. Broaching the April 7 revolt, the PPNT members are concerned that “Moldova has reached its deepest crisis after its foundation.” “Given the Communists' aggressiveness, who declared life or death war on whole society, including to the opposition parties, society has reached an abnormal state, which may trigger social conflicts,” reads a communique edited by the PPNR. Despite the requirements set out by the European Parliament and the Council of Europe concerning the April 7 events, the Communists Party was not able to offer opportunities to the opposition in order not to trigger snap elections, the PPNT states. In their communique, the PPNT members add “society is revolted that the head of the state grossly violates the Constitution, displaying a disdainful behavior.” “Given the obedience of the judiciary and of the public media, the opposition parties did not have enough levers to halt the installation of an authoritarian regime in Moldova,” stated the PPNT members.
