The pensions will be both indexed and increased on April 1. The indexation coefficient will be 13.94%, which is the rate of inflation at the end of 2021, and will be applied to pensions that do not exceed the monthly average official salary forecast for 2022, which is 9,900 lei. Furthermore, pensions will be raised by a fixed sum of 171.71 lei, IPN reports.
According to Minister of Labor and Social Protection Marcel Spatari, as a result of the implementation of the two mechanisms – indexation and increase – a person with a pension of 2,500 lei will receive 3,020 lei as from April 1, by 520 lei more than at present.
Also, the minimum old-age pension will be raised from 2,000 lei to 2,278.80 lei for a full contributory period, which is an increase of 13.94%.
If the size of the pension calculated in accordance with the law is lower than the minimum pension for the given category, the difference between the two values will be covered with state budget funds in the form of a solidarity supplement, as the law provides.
The pension fund for this year is by 59% larger than in 2019.
