The pensions that after the 6.75% increase on April 1 will be under 1,300 lei will be raised by 8.25%. The pensions of servicemen and employees of the Ministry of the Interior will be increased by 10.4%. A bill to this effect was approved by the competent commission on March 27, IPN reports.

The bill was produced from merging a number of legislative initiatives proposed by different parliamentary factions. The lawmakers constituted a working group, led by Speaker Marian Lupu, which analyzed the initiatives and formulated a common bill.

The persons with pensions of under 1,300 lei will also receive 90 lei in financial support if they have a complete pension and 50 lei if they contributed to the social insurance fund for less than 30 years and have an incomplete pension.

Support of 50, 60 and 90 lei will also be provided to persons with disabilities, depending on the severity of the disability.

The bill is to be passed by Parliament in one of the sittings this week. It will come into force on April 1.
