The Cabinet approved a draft law to increase the pensions of people with a contribution period of at least 40 years, who now get a minimum pension, IPN reports.
Under the bill, the old-age pension will be raised from 2,777.86 lei to 3,300 lei for persons with a contribution period of at least 40 years.
The MPs who drafted the bill noted that the law will benefit pensioners who, although they worked for a long period of time, receive small pensions due to insufficiently paid salaries. Among the beneficiaries are people who worked in education, agriculture, social assistance and other fields.
Pensioners of this category could be identified in the "Social Protection" Information System managed by the National House of Social Insurance (CNAS). Respectively, their pensions will be increased automatically, without the persons needing to submit an application to the local house of social insurance.
According to CNAS data, in November 2024 there were 30,505 people with a contribution period of at least 40 years who received a pension lower than 3,300 lei.
