Pensions and salaries will be increased, Vlad Filat
The Cabinet will approve the bill providing for the increase of pensions and salaries for budget-paid employees on low incomes before the dissolution of the legislature, Prime Minister Vlad Filat announced in Parliament on Thursday, quoted by Info-Prim Neo.
“It will be a bill based on the agreement that we reached with our foreign partners,” Vlad Filat said.
When going out of the assembly hall, the Premier told the reporters that today's meeting of the Alliance for European Integration was called on his initiative, not because Marian Lupu threatened the Democratic faction will not attend the Parliament's sittings until the pensions are raised. Vlad Filat said he convened the meeting in order to inform the leaders of the governing alliance about the present financial situation.
For his part, the Democrats' leader Marian Lupu said he will wait for the Government's proposal on pension and salary increases by next Wednesday.
“The proposal will be ready earlier. After we assess the situation together with the IMF, we will formulate a clear position so as not to affect the people,” said Vlad Filat
The Premier did not specify the size of the raises, but said there will be proposed another bill, not the one submitted earlier by the Democratic Party through the Ministry of Labor, Social Protection and Family.
