The Pensioners Union of the Republic of Moldova called on the pensioners from Chisinau to support the candidate for mayor of Chisinau of the Party “Platform Dignity and Truth” (PPPDA) Andrei Nastase on May 20. In a news conference at IPN, the Union’s administration said Andrei Nastase is the only candidate who places people’s interests, not the own interests at the forefront.

The Union’s chairman Victor Leanca said the candidate of the PPPDA is a courageous and bold man. He is the candidate who fights corruption, defends freedom and equity and wants a change for everyone. Most of the inhabitants of Chisinau are poor and the disappointment produced veritable depression, not only in the capital city, but all over the country. “If the oligarchic forces occupy Chisinau, we will all be hostage of the Plahotniuc-Dodon duo during many years,” stated Leanca.

Mihai Postovan, of the Buiucani branch of the Pensioners Union, said the elderly people in Chisinau municipality and all over the country face numerous problems, such as small pensions and lack of transport. Of the 28,000 pensioners living in Buiucani district, 7,000 are with disabilities and 22,000 have incomes under the minimum consumer basket. The corrupt government is to blame for this poverty.

Constantin Ursachi, head of the Botanica branch of the Pensioners Union, noted that hundreds of pensioners do not receive cold-month allowances and dozens of persons who suffer from epilepsy do not receive compensated drugs because the Ministry of Health didn’t hold a tender contest in this regard. Those medicines are very expensive and the pensioners cannot buy them.

Ion Pseneac, head of the Centru branch of the Pensioners Union, noted that Andrei Nastase is the only candidate who revealed the acts of corruption and illegalities committed in the country and he should be voted.

Vasile Talpa, head of the Ciocana branch of the Pensioners Union, said Andrei Nastase is a real professional. He is sincere and namely he can improve things in the capital city.
