Anticorruption prosecutors and officers of the National Anticorruption Center arrested a man from Chisinau on traffic of influence charges. The man, who is a pensioner, is suspected of asking for US$10,000 from a person for influencing the decision of judges of the Rascani Court and the Appeals Court, IPN reports.
In a press release, the National Anticorruption Center says the suspect was arrested while the denouncer was transmitting a tranche of US$2,000 to him within an operation performed under the control of the Center. The man was remanded in custody for 72 hours. He faces up to six years in jail for traffic of influence.
In another case of corruption, a person was arrested for asking for €400 and 400 lei from a man from Comrat for helping him obtain a driver’s license without taking exams. According to the denouncer, the man said he has influence over members of the examination commission of the Comrat Driver Accreditation Section and can make these issue a B license to him. The man was caught in the act of taking the money. An accomplice of his was put on the wanted list.
The case is handled by the Anticorruption Prosecutor’s Office.
