Pension in Transnistria represents 34.7% of average pay in the region
The average old-age pension in the eastern districts of Moldova in January-September 2011 was 1,005.56 Transnistrian rubles, up 19.7% compared with the first nine months of 2010, Info-Prim Neo has learned from the Institute of Economy, Finance and Statistics, which quoted the Transnistrian Statistics Agency.
The data are contained in the quarterly publication “Trends in Moldova’s Economy” that is produced by the Institute.
The pension is by 9.2% higher than the minimum subsistence level for pensioners in the region. But it represents only 34.7% of the average nominal salary. The social pension is 476 rubles.
The average nominal monthly salary of a worker in the Transnistrian region, except for the employers working in the small business, was 2,902 rubles in the period, up 1.5% compared with January-September 2010. In budget-funded institutions, the average pay was 1,897 rubles.
In industry, the highest average salary was paid at thermoelectric companies, by 59% higher than the average monthly salary. In wood processing industry, the pay was by 29.3% lower than the average salary.
At the exchange rate set by the unrecognized Transnistrian monetary authority, 1 euro can be bought for 11 rubles, while 1 dollar for 8.34 rubles.
