The officers of Moldova's Department of Penitentiary Institutions detained in Bender will be under arrest for 48 hours, Deputy Prime Minister for Reintegration Victor Osipov stated for Info-Prim Neo. “The reason for the arrest was the violation of rules that are unclear for me. I think such measures against the employees of the institutions controlled by the constitutional authorities make the situation in the Security Zone tenser,” he said. “We are taking steps to set the two officers free.” According to Victor Osipov, the peacekeeping mechanisms are defective. The military observers could not travel to the scene to collect facts and document the case as the Transnistrian representatives hindered them. The Deputy Prime Minister for Reintegration also said that such cases should be examined swiftly and correctly so that all the sides are provided with objective information about what happened. Two two officers who came off duty at penitentiary institution No.8 in Bender were arrested by the Transnistrian militia on October 7.
