The Broadcasting Coordination Council banned the TV channel Ren Moldova from broadcasting advertisements during 72 hours and put the highest fine of 5,400 lei on Prime TV, TV7 and RTR Moldova, IPN reports.
The penalties were imposed as a result of the monitoring carried out on July 14 – 21, which centered on the observance of the principles of sociopolitical balance, equidistance and objectivity in the news programs retransmitted from Russia.
It was established that the TV channels that retransmit Russian news bulletins covered the conflict in Ukraine unilaterally. The Council expressed its concern at the fact that the Ukrainians in the Russian news programs are named fascists, while the information is manipulating in character and is aimed at denigrating the Ukrainian side.
The representatives of the penalized TV channels said they cannot control the content of the programs and news that are retransmitted from Russia. Earlier, the Council warned the same TV channels for the same irregularities. Then, the representatives of the broadcasters said they will comply with the provisions of the Broadcasting Code.
