Penalties for illegal labor will be harsher
The utilization of undeclared work will be penalized with fines of 2,000 to 10,000 lei, differing for private individuals or legal entities. The fines were included in the legislation by a new auricle to the Labor Code. The bill was approved by the Government and is to be passed by Parliament, Info-Prim Neo reports.
By other amendments to the Labor Code and the Code of Administrative Offenses, the penalties for paying a part of the salary or the entire salary illegally and for not paying the salary in time and employing a person without individual work contract were toughened up.
Prime Minister Vlad Filat expressed fears as regards the efficiency of these measures, given that they apply to employers only, not yet to the persons who accept to work illegally and to be paid salaries ‘in envelope’.
