Penalties for hospital doctors who will ask for money from patients

The doctors of hospitals that will oblige the patients to buy medicines while receiving treatment will have pay back the sums paid by them in drugstores. Such a provision was included in the standard contract for the provision of medical assistance to insured persons and will come into force on January 1, 2014, IPN reports.

According to a communiqué from the National Health Insurance Company, the providers of medical services will be obliged to acquire drugs beforehand. If the patients are forced to purchase medicines or to pay for medical examinations performed within the mandatory insurance system, the Company will force the providers to pay back the given sums. It will also have the right to deduct the sums from the amounts transferred to the medical institution for the next month.

The directors of medical institutions will have to use the money allocated by the National Health Insurance Company only for providing medical services, not for renewing the equipment as this is the duty of the institution founder. If the hospital managers mismanage the money allocated by the Company, they will have to pay penalties of 0.1% of the sum spent for every day of public money misuse.
