Penalties for decision makers and functionaries of public authorities

A number of functionaries of the public authorities were fined up to 4,000 lei by courts of law in cases managed by the National Anticorruption Center. These were also banned from holding public posts for three to six months, IPN has learned from the Center.

The largest fine, of 4,000 lei was imposed on a imagist doctor from Orhei, who was accused of collecting illegal payments from patients. The woman was also banned from holding posts for a period of three months.

The vice director of the school of Anenii Noi was fined 1,500 lei and banned from taking part in public procurement groups for a period of six months. As a member of the public procurement group, the vice director favored particular business entities.

The chief architect of the mayor’s office of Codru town of Chisinau municipality was fined 1,750 lei and banned  from holding posts for a period of three months for abusing his position and not imposing a penalty.

In 2018, the National Anticorruption Center  managed 14 administrative cases started over abuse of power, illegal remuneration or illegal entrepreneurial activity.  In five of them, the court passed judgements and imposed fines. The other cases are pending.
