A man aged 26 was sentenced to 13 years in jail for kidnapping and raping a girl aged 8. The prosecutors consider that the punishment is too mild and intend to challenge it, IPN reports.
According to a communiqué from the Prosecutor General’s Office, this June, being under the influence of alcohol, the culprit lured the girl to a pasture near the village, presenting himself as a police employee. Afterward, threatening her with death, he took her to a quarry situated on the bank of the Raut River and raped her there. The man was arrested the next day. During investigations, he admitted his guilt. According to prosecutors, he is married and maintains a minor.
The culprit was found guilty on three counts – kidnapping, rape and acts of a sexual character. The prosecutors demanded that the offender be sentenced to 23 years in jail and pay 80,000 lei damages to the victim.
