Doctor Gavril Boian, doctor habilitate in medical sciences and practitioner, who headed the Pediatric Surgery, Orthopedic and Anesthesiology Department “Natalia Gheorghiu”, died at the hospital because of COVID-19, IPN reports, quoting the Ministry of Health, Labor and Social Protection.
Gavril Boian, 74, was admitted to the Emergency Medicine Institute on May 9, being transferred from a private medical institution after being confirmed with COVID-19.
“He was a valuable specialist in pediatric surgery who devoted over 40 years to teaching activity in higher medical education, contributing to strengthening the medical system in the Republic of Moldova and saving the lives of thousands of children,” said the Ministry.
The death toll from COVID-19 now stands at 239. In the morning of May 23, the Ministry informed about the death of a 73-year-old man from the municipality of Chisinau.
