A pediatric surgeon working at the “Valentin Ignatenco” Hospital passed away yesterday, becoming the 35th health care worker in Moldova to have died because of the novel coronavirus.

Iurie Solomon, 45, was admitted to the National Hospital on September 10.

“Always active, optimistic and forthcoming, like a true doctor should be. This is how we will remember (Iurie Solomon),” wrote his Ignatenco Hospital colleagues in an obituary.

According to the Ministry of Health, more than 5,000 health care workers have tested positive since the beginning of the pandemic.

The Ministry of Health today reported 200 new cases, which takes the total count to 46,796 cases. 1211 people died.
