The pediatric section for metabolic disorders of the National Clinical Children’s Hospital “Emilian Cotaga” in Chisinau, which is the only one of the kind in Moldova, was reopened after renovation on June 6, IPN reports.

About 700 children with metabolic disorders, undernourishment and different genetic disorders are annually treated in this section. A sum of 775,000 lei was spent on its repair. The money was allocated by the Mother and Child Institute. Of this sum, over 51,000 lei for furniture was provided by the Association “Beating Cystic Fibrosis” and the International Women’s Club of Moldova.

The section was opened in 1968 to reduce infant mortality, having initially 25 beds, seven of which were somatic reanimation beds.
