Two pedestrians were hit by a vehicle on Sunday evening on the R-1 route, near Făgureni village of Strășeni district. The impact was fatal for the 70-year-old man. His 64-year-old wife is in a coma, IPN reports.
The two pedestrians were struck by a Range Rover driven by a 57-year-old woman. According to the General Police Inspectorate, the man and the woman were jaywalking, in an unlit place. The driver tested negative to the alcohol test.
Contacted by IPN for details, the deputy director of the Strășeni District Hospital Anastasia Filimon said that the woman was hospitalized in an extremely serious condition, in a coma. She suffered severe associated trauma, multiple fractures, internal organ contusions and fractures.
“The patient is in the Intensive Care Unit, without dynamics. She was given a blood transfusion and an ultrasound scan was performed. She was repeatedly examined by the neurologist and we are currently coordinating the coming of a neurosurgeon from Chisinau because the patient is not transportable,” stated Anastasia Filimon.
The police are conducting an investigation to establish the circumstances in which the accident in Făgureni occurred.
