PDM will propose censure motion if Premier does not resign

The Democratic Party (PDM) will put forward its own censure motion or will join other censure against the Government if Prime Minister Vlad Filat does not resign soon. The announcement was made by the PDM leader Marian Lupu in a press briefing after the extended meeting of the party’s Executive Political Council, Info-Prim Neo reports. Marian Lupu said that all the heads of the PDM’s local organizations took part in the meeting. It was decided unanimously that Vlad Filat should resign. The current political crisis can be unlocked only by starting the talks from the very beginning and only after the Premier and the Speaker resign. The Democratic leader also said that Vlad Filat’s argument that his resignation will definitely lead to early legislative elections reveals his cowardice. He stressed that the leader of the PLDM should have anticipated that their decision to withdraw from the agreement on the formation of the AEI, which was announced on February 13, can lead to early elections. According to Marian Lupu, the Government is no longer credible and faces a serious image crisis. There is also no parliamentary majority, only joint votes of the PLDM and PCRM. On February 25, unaffiliated MP Mihai Godea announced that he has initiated the procedure for giving a vote of no confidence to the Government of Moldova. He said he will send a relevant bill to all the parliamentary groups. Such a bill must be signed by at least 26 lawmakers for being debated in Parliament.
