PDM will form alliances with parties of the right that will enter Parliament

The Democratic Party (PDM), after the parliamentary elections of 2018, will form political alliances with any party of the right that will pass the election threshold. A resolution to this effect is to be adopted by the National Political Council of the PDM at the end of October, the party’s president Vlad Plahotniuc announced on October 3, IPN reports.

The Democratic leader said the PDM will not fight against parties of the right before and during the campaign prior to the next year’s elections. The parties of the right are not political opponents of the PDM. The Democratic Party will be an opponent of those who will propose projects to block Moldova’s European course and to annul the agreements signed with the EU. “Our objective is for Moldova to have a pro-European government after the elections of 2018 as well,” stated Vlad Plahotniuc.

He expressed his regret at the statements of some of the politicians of the right, who said that they will not form an alliance with the PDM. “Some of the parties already form political alliances at a time when polls show how serious the situation on the right among the opposition parties is. If we do not change the approach in the immediate future, next year we could all experience a very dangerous situation for Moldova’s future,” said the Democratic leader.

In another development, the PDM’s spokesman Vitalie Gamurari said the Democrats will not take part in the referendum initiated by the Socialist councilors to dismiss Dorin Chirtoaca from the post of mayor of Chisinau. The PDM considers this is an electoral initiative that has nothing to do with the real problems of Chisinau city.
