The Democratic Party (PDM) will name the negotiators only after the party receives initiation to the negotiations from the Liberal-Democratic Party (PLDM), MP Adrian Candu said after the May 16 sitting of Parliament, IPN reports. “For us, it is important to understand the seriousness of the intentions of the PLDM so that we see that they do not simulate the formation of the Government,” he stated.
He also said that the PDM has a number of questions to the PLDM, especially its leader Vlad Filat, who, in an interview, said that the early elections may be a solution to the political crisis. “We want to know, maybe he changed his mind and they no longer want early elections,” said Adrian Candu.
The PDM also has questions to Prime Minister designate Iurie Leanca, who, for the first time in Moldova’s history, interrupted the Government’s meeting without a sound reason. “Why did he tolerate his party’s votes of May 3? How will his Cabinet fight corruption and what so extraordinary happened that he interrupted the Government’s meeting and left so swiftly?” – these are the questions of the Democrats.
The same day, the PLDM presented a political agreement on the formation and functioning of the Pro-European Government Coalition. The party’s deputy head Liliana Palihovich said that the text of the agreement is public and can be found on the PLDM’s website. She told the journalists that the PLDM will have discussions with the parties and unaffiliated lawmakers who want to form part of the coalition. The discussions will be held in a transparent way and there will be no secret agreements. The leader of the PLDM Vlad Filat already had meetings with the chairman of the Democratic Party Marian Lupu, the leader of the reform-seeking Liberals Ion Hadarca and some of the unaffiliated MPs.
