The Democratic Party of Moldova (PDM) welcomes the historical vote on the liberalization of the visa regime for Moldovans, held in the European Parliament on February 27, IPN repots, quoting a communiqué from the party.

“The vote in the European Parliament represents an important victory that brings us closer to the materialization of the efforts made to ensure the free movement of our people in the European Union,” reads the communiqué.

The PDM considers that this moment is symbolical for the recent history of the country because it reveals the appreciation, confidence and partnership enjoyed by it from the representatives of all the EU member states. The right to move freely in the EU is a right won justly by the Moldovan people. They must have proofs of solidarity from the EU because they had the courage to choose the path to democratization in 2009 and 2010 and showed consistency in this period.

The PDM approves of the open and friendly attitude by which the MEPs voted in favor of abolishing the visa requirements for the Moldovan citizens. According to the party, this is a reciprocal benefit.
