PDM tries to prepare again election invalidation scenario, Socialist MP

Socialist MP Vlad Batrîncea said the Democratic Party is trying to prepare beforehand the scenario for the invalidation of the parliamentary elections of February 24, 2019 so as to hold early elections in March-April, until it has financial and administrative resources. In a posting on Facebook, the MP said the Party of Socialists does not campaign as the PDM says, IPN reports.

“Today, the Democratic Party accused the Party of Socialists of premature campaigning. The context of such an accusation is evident and superficial. All the polls show the PDM does not have chances of keeping the parliamentary majority and of controlling the government after the elections. The probability that the PSRM will hold the majority of seats is high,” stated Vlad Batrîncea.

According to him, if no party holds a majority of seats of MP after the elections, no one would want to form a coalition with the PDM. In this case, the early parliamentary elections in the second half of 2019 are inevitable and the PSRM’s chances in these will grow even more, while the PDM’s chances will decline.

The MP also said the PSRM does not campaign. If the Democrats refer to the primary election that the PSRM hasn’t yet finished, this is an internal procedure for choosing candidates for MP. These persons could be officially named candidates after the PSRM’s National Council convenes, but this will happen when the election campaign  starts.

In a press release, the PDM said that in the case of parliamentary elections, the process of designating candidates starts 60 days before the elections and ends 30 days before the election day. But the PSRM started this process long before and President Igor Dodon directly becomes involved in the political promotion of the  PSRM.
