PDM: Today’s vote represents a consensus reached by AEI parties
The Democratic Party (PDM) decided to vote for the bill on guaranteeing of equality because it has been polished, does not affect the family values, contributes to the European integration process and represents the consensus reached by the parties of the ruling alliance, Info-Prim Neo reports.
In a press statement, the Democrats promise the Moldovan people that they will never accept a law or other initiatives that would undermine the bases of the family, the traditional and religious values of society.
“We support the initiatives that combat discrimination on all kinds of grounds, but will never back the provisions that run counter to the interests of the Moldovan people,” reads the statement.
The PDM expresses its regret at the fact that the Law on Guaranteeing of Equality obtained an exaggerated public resonance owing to the not sufficiently active and open communication with the people about this document, which led to the appearance of major confusion and tensions in society.
The Law on Guaranteeing of Equally was passed by Parliament on two readings on May 25. Four MPs voted against, including Democrat Oleg Sarbu.
