PDM to choose new leadership on July 27

The Democratic Party of Moldova (PDM) will elect its new administration on July 27, when a new program aimed at reforming the party is to be presented. The decision was taken in the June 29 meeting of the National Political Council of the PDM and was made public by Pavel Filip in a news conference, IPN reports.

The first vice president of the PDM noted that the Council discussed the political situation in Moldova, the situation inside the PDM and the decisions taken by the party in the recent past. “We spoke about the mistakes committed recently and about the steps that should be taken to return to normality,” stated Pavel Filip.

He noted that after Vlad Plahotniuc vacated the post of PDM president, all the vice presidents, including all the secretary generals, followed his example at the meeting of the party’s National Political Council. “Until a new president is chosen, I will manage the party as caretaker president,” said the politician.

He also said that the Congress scheduled for July 27 will not only elect the new leadership of the party, but will also adopt a new program that will lead to the reformation of the Democratic Party. “The PDM remains an important party and we understand what we should change so that we have a socially oriented party based on the European values,” stated Pavel Filip.

He noted the PDM is no longer able to maintain the current head office and they decided to move to a new building.
