PDM signs cooperation protocol with Romania’s PSD

The administration of the Democrat Party (PDM) of Moldova and of the Social Democratic Party (PSD) of Romanian on September 9 signed a cooperation and partnership protocol, IPN reports. The two parties will step up the joint projects and will support each other both in elections and especially in developing economic and social projects that would benefit the citizens of both of the countries, it is said in a communiqué issued by the PDM.

The protocol was signed during a visit to Bucharest by a delegation of the PDM, which included chairman Marian Lupu, first deputy chairman Vlad Plahotniuc, president of honor Dumitru Diacov, and deputy chairman Pavel Filip. The delegation was received by the chairman of the PSD and Prime Minister of Romania Victor Ponta.

“We would like to develop other important projects together. I know that you have an important project in Chisinau, for which you worked a lot – the Mother and Child Center. We would be glad to support the financing of this project,” Victor Ponta said after the signing of the document.

For his part, Marian Lupu noted that the cooperation relations between the PSD and PDM are very good. “I highly appreciate the personal contribution of Mister Ponta and of the PSD to supporting the economic and social development process, the development of Moldova’s infrastructure and high-value projects. I mean not only their financial value, but also their contribution to increasing welfare,” said the leader of the PDM.

The two parties also intend to cooperate at electoral level in the immediate period. “In the meeting we discussed different themes related to the cooperation between our parties, especially the election campaign, and other issues concerning the relations between Moldova and Romania, which entered a dynamic and beneficial process for both of the states,” said Vlad Plahotniuc.

Pavel Filip spoke about the support provided by the Romanian Social-Democratic Government to Moldova. “They are Moldova’s friends not only by words, but also by deeds. I refer to the Iasi – Ungheni gas pipeline and the assistance provided in reconstructing kindergartens and the National Museum of Arts in Chisinau,” he stated.

Under the signed protocol, the two parties will strengthen the cooperation relations, communication and mutual political support so as to ensure the dynamism, quality and finality of Moldova’s integration into the EU. The PDM and PSD, which are members of the Socialist International, signed the first cooperation protocol in 2006.
