PDM says PLDM formed coalition with PCRM in Briceni
The Democrat Party (PDM) issued a communiqué, saying a PLDM-PCRM coalition was made in Briceni on July 13. The coalition elected the local leader of the Liberal-Democratic Party (PLDM) Efimia Bendulac as district head and the local leader of the Communist Party (PCRM) Aliona Babiuc as deputy district head. The local factions of the Democratic Party and the Liberal Party were fully ignored and they did not take part in the voting. The PDM says such a development is connected with the public address made by Prime Minister Vlad Filat, the leader of the PLDM, on July 12, Info-Prim Neo reports.
“It should be noted that while preparing the meeting of the Briceni district council, the factions of the PLDM, PDM and PL had a joint meeting in the first half of Tuesday. They practically agreed to form a democratic alliance, but decided to take a final decision after the Premier’s address that was to be made at 7pm. But after that hour, the representatives of the PLDM were unavailable for the other partners. Today they acted practically in coalition with the PCRM,” says the communiqué.
According to the PDM, two councilors of the PLDM voted in favor of a Communist district head in Edinet. One of them told his colleagues that he was instructed to do so by the party’s central staff.
“Thus, those who urged signing an agreement to form local alliances turned out to be hypocritical. They later delayed the discussions and presentation of their own views on the agreement. This led to a critical situation in districts,” said the Democrats.
The Democratic Party announced it will make no other comments until the administration of the PLDM provides sincere explanations.
In his address to the people, Vlad Filat said, among others, that the termination of the dialogue with the Opposition was one of the most serious mistakes made by the ruling alliance and thus they should find a compromise, while the meeting he had with the Communist leader Vladimir Voronin earlier this week shows that there will be a dialog that can help resolve the constitutional crisis.
