PDM requests CEC to publish results of verification of lists with signatures

The Democratic Party of Moldova (PDM) asked the Central Election Commission to make public the results of the verification of subscription lists presented by the candidates who were registered as presidential election runners. Such a request was made by the PDM’s representative to the CEC Vadim Motsarski, IPN reports.

“The information about the presence of dead persons in the subscription lists is worrisome and we want this subject to be clarified swiftly. The public opinion must know if there are parties or independent candidates who collected signatures of dead persons. The measures taken by the CEC help identify any such signature. So, we ask that the statistics should be provided to the public,” the party says in a press release.

According to the Democrats, it is dishonorable for any election runner to resort to such practices. The candidates who collected signatures this way must immediately come before the people and offer apologies.

Earlier, when examining the lists of signatures presented by applicants for the office of President, there were identified cases when dead persons ‘signed’ as supporters. According to CEC member Iurie Ciocan, the Prosecutor General’s Office will be informed about these cases.
