The Democratic Party of Moldova (PDM) considers the results of the referendum on the dismissal of the mayor general of Chisinau do not represent a victory for anyone and show a huge defeat of the parties of the left, especially the Party of Socialists, which initiated the plebiscites, and are a signal that populism does not entice the residents of the capital city, IPN reports.
“Even if the people are justly dissatisfied with the situation in Chisinau, today they showed they do not want to take part in the political game staged by the Socialists and their partners, the Party of Communists and “Our Party”. The PDM thanks the citizens for showing wisdom and for not allowing to be caught into the trap of the PSRM and the other parties of the left. We congratulate the pro-European parties that boycotted the referendum for the mature, firm and consistent political attitude shown against an initiative whose goal was to take control of the Chisinau City Hall by incorrect ways,” says the press release issued by the PDM after the polling places closed.
The PDM calls on the Chisinau Municipal Council to resume work immediately, to work for the benefit of the people, to leave aside the political struggles and to swiftly design a plan for taking the Chisinau City Hall out of the prolonged crisis.
