PDM president had a meeting with the US ambassador

The president of the Democratic Party (PDM), Marian Lupu, had a meeting with the US ambassador in Moldova, James Pettit, on Thursday, August 18. The politician announced on a social network page that they talked about the political situation in the country, the political and the parliamentary agenda for the next session, about the accomplishments of the government and the upcoming presidential elections, IPN reports.

“I’ve summarized our progress since January – the stabilization of the country, concrete steps towards the reformation and modernization of state institutions and Moldova’s regaining of its foreign partners’ trust by reaching an agreement with IMF experts. We reconfirmed PDM’s clear commitment as the main governing party to continue the country’s European road and to provide the necessary parliamentary support for the Cabinet lead by Pavel Filip. I’ve expressed my confidence that this government will carry its mandate till the end, until the parliamentary elections in 2018”, wrote the politician.

The PDM leader also said that his party would have its own candidate for president and will try to win the elections. “I assured the ambassador that it’s in PDM’s interest, as the main governing party, that the elections are well-organized, free and fair and to avoid any doubts about the electoral process. The US ambassador appreciated these assurances”, stressed the Democrat.

Marian Lupu also highlighted his party’s good collaboration with the National Democratic Institute and the US International Republican Institute.

The politician concluded the meeting by telling the ambassador that he was a friend of Moldova and that the US are, in PDM’s view, a key international actor for European and worldwide peace and prosperity.
